When we had settled into our seats on the plane I handed him a brand new copy of Astro Boy. For the entire month we were away it wasn't far from his reach. When sightseeing became boring and walking tired his feet, he would find the nearest step or chair, settle in and start reading.

What a lovely composition!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet... and a lovely capture x
ReplyDeleteIs he actually reading it - or looking at the pictures. I'm having real trouble getting Charlie to read and he is 7. Tips please x
ReplyDeleteI had a brother who was a slow reader, and we used to read chapter books to him to get him interested in the stories enough to read - I can recommend 'holes' by Louis Sachar, or an oldie - Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh by Robert C. O'brien.. I also used to work in early childhood education and we always tried to foster a love of stories - both telling them and hearing them, and the love for reading follows on from that. So don't worry too much! Hope this is some help. x
DeleteI love love love this picture. So simple yet it shows so much. Great shot!
ReplyDeleteReading children is the best thing, it always makes me smile when I see my kiddos with a book! :-)

Can't beat a quiet moment alone with a beautiful book.
ReplyDeleteLou - don't panic. He'll pick it up in his own time. In the meantime, you might find these useful tips from author Paul Jennings to be of great use ... http://www.mybookcorner.com.au/articles/956-paul-jennings
Jodi, this picture is stunning. I love candid captures. x
ReplyDeleteLove that Che loves Astro Boy.
ReplyDeleteMy eldest wants to write comics so I have a soft spot for them.
Jodi - can I ask where you purchased the book? My middle son is inhaling books at the moment and I am sure he would love this one?
ReplyDeleteI got it from The Book Depository. Just search "Astro Boy Tezuka" - lots to choose from. They are comic books so not a lot of words but great for early readers. Tezuka has also done a series of comics on Buddha's life - they're fascinating! x
ReplyDeleteAstro Boy for the win! x
